BUILDER OFFERS FIRE SURVIVORS AN IMPORTANT REBUILDING OPTION
Natural disasters serve up many similarities, not the least of which is that homes are destroyed and need to be rebuilt.
This is the scenario in Angora, South Lake Tahoe where over 259 families lost their homes on June 24, 2007.
Stonefield Development does have experience in rebuilding homes after a devastating fire, and on a very large scale. After the destructive San Diego Cedar Fire of October 2003, Stonefield Development rebuilt 81 homes in one single neighborhood in record time, and now this reputable builder is offering it's rebuilding blueprint to fire
survivors of the devastating Angora Fire.
"Stonefield is a mid-size builder that gets the job done. Thanks to our team's commitment and the invaluable industry and subcontractor relationships, we are able to offer fire survivors resources that would otherwise not be available to them", said Bob Pack, owner and president of Stonefield.
The Stonefield prototype is unique in many ways. For example, it can bring construction costs under control, provide sufficient labor to build within limited time windows, and create one stop shopping for rebuilding, greatly easing the burdens of rebuilding for fire survivors.
By contrast, in the aftermath of the Oakland-Berkeley Hills fire, thousands of
homes needed to be replaced, and there weren't enough contractors to handle the
volume. Construction prices skyrocketed. Now, thanks to Stonefield's proposed program,
construction costs can be fairly fixed at a reasonable rate.
Van and Molly Marshall are local Angora residents who lost two homes in
the Angora Fire. Van, a semi-retired builder/developer in South Lake Tahoe, has
concerns that the community needs a builder with subcontractor resources and labor pull
to aid in the rebuilding efforts. "Survivors don't know what to do or where to start and
they need someone to get them organized, show them options and be practical with them
in terms of cost and timeframes", says Marshall.
On September 6, 2007 at Lake Tahoe High School at 7:00 p.m., Stonefield
Development will be holding a Rebuilding Informational Meeting, and invites all fire
survivors to attend.
"Our goal is to share Stonefield's experience for rebuilding after a natural disaster
with as many Angora Fire Survivors as possible," Pack said.
